Panel 6, Making a skit successful for competition.
The title says it all! In this panel and workshop we will be talking
about what it takes to make a successful skit for competitions by
demonstrating differences and involving the audience. We will be
asking participants to write up a short skit or outline for a skit
and later improving upon that skit with everyone's help.
Demonstrating why inside jokes don't get as many laughs as you think
they would and why it's so important to write the script for the
audience and not yourself. Naturally we'll be teaching you how to
write for the audience and grasp an outsiders view upon your story
before you publish it into a full blown skit. All ideas are excellent
but only some can ever make it to the stage with even fewer being
understood these days. So this workshop is aiming to teach a little
about script writing.. and once your script is written.. what it's
going to take and what you need to do and prepare for the judges.
We intend to leave you with a full understanding why you need to
have a booklet of photos, information and more available for the
judges, all of these aspects go along with making a skit successful,
it's not all about having a smashing performance!
